Gary Teale was a player that could have left Pride Park before the transfer deadline, but Motherwell boss Mark McGhee, who has been linked with him, isn’t expecting this to happen now.

‘But he was man of the match against Coventry. There’s still going to be discussions between him and Nigel.

‘But it seems he is back in favour. It looks unlikely that he will come here.’

McGhee was talking to BBC Scotland.

The Scottish international was one of a number of players out of favour under Paul Jewell, a man who seemed to have made decisions and wouldn’t change them, but has come back in under Nigel Clough and shown his best form. This sort of form makes him an asset to the club, and makes him worth keeping.

Clough is still expecting some departures, but Teale doesn’t look like being one of them now?
