Derby County is believed to have put in a last minute bid in an effort to bring West Ham United’s Reece Burke to Pride Park according to the Sun newspaper.

Burke is a 21-year-old defender can play in the centre of defence or as a right back, a position the Rams are looking to strengthen. At 6ft 21/2 inches he can dominate any defensive role the Rams may have for him.

West ham has loaned out Burke for the past three seasons, having stints at Bradford in the 2015-16 season, playing 30 games and scoring 2 goals. The following season he spent with Wigan playing 10 times and scoring 1 goal. Last season 2017-18 was spent with another Northern club, this time Bolton Wanderers playing 25 games and scoring one goal.

The Rams are hoping the late bid will outbid Hull City where Burke was said to be going before the Rams interest.

Burke is a product of the West Ham Academy, something Rams new manager, Frank Lampard knows all about as he started his career with the Hammers.
