Rams defender off to the Magpies

Rams veteran defender Michael Johnson has left Pride Park and joined League Two side Notts County on a two-month loan deal.

Nottingham born Johnson has not featured for the Rams since early January and Jewell believes the defender needs some much needed game time, which he will get at the Magpies.

He will hopefully make his debut for the Meadow Lane side in Saturday`s clash against fellow strugglers Macclesfield.

The 34-year-old spent a spell on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season and he has accepted the offer to join Notts County until 3rd May.

Magpies boss Ian McParland was delighted to pull off the coup of luring Johnson to Meadow Lane.

‘We’ve been keen to bring Michael to the club for some time, so naturally we’re delighted to finally get him on board,’ said McParland.

‘Our fans know what he is about and I’m very sure he will be a fine acquisition to our squad between now and the end of the campaign.

‘His experience will be vital; we don’t have too many old heads in the team – and that is something he will be able to bring to the team.’
