Derby have fined Tyrone Mears six weeks wages after his unauthorised trial with Marseille last month. Mick McGuire, the PFA deputy chief executive, feels we were entitled to do this but Mears could appeal.
‘Derby are entitled to fine him that amount because he is still on a Premier League contract. We don’t know if he will appeal.’

Mears is now on a season loan with the Ligue 1 side but the outrage caused by his unauthorised trial with the French giants is what has sparked the £75,000 fine imposed.
