Our injury problems just seem to go from bad to worse this season as Jay McEveley and Kris Commons joined an ever growing injury list.
Both had to come off in the first half of the defeat at Middlesbrough and the Scottish internationals are facing spells on the sidelines again. Nigel Clough could only bemoan the latest injuries when asked about them.
“Which ones? The two that went off or the other 15?
Of our 10 outfield players, arguably six would not have started if we had a fully-fit squad. That is a fair chunk out of any side.”
Clough was talking after the Middlesbrough match.
McEveley’s fractured cheekbone will keep him out for six week and having just returned from a month long hamstring injury Commons could now be sidelined again with a strain to the same hamstring.
With over 10 first team players already injured before this the last thing we wanted, or needed was more being added to this!
