Chris Martin and the rest of the Derby County squad are gutted after the narrow Play-Off Final defeat denied them a place in the Premiership.

With Queens Park Rangers down to ten men for the last half an hour the odds looked stacked in The Rams favour but despite dominating possession they failed to find the breakthrough and ultimately lost out to a sucker-punch from Bobby Zamora. The result left a number of players flat out on the pitch at the end after coming up just short and Martin told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

‘We’re gutted in that dressing room but I think we need to take the positives out of it. That’s football sometimes. I thought we put on a good performance but obviously the only thing missing was a goal but we didn’t quite get the little bit of fortune that we needed. ‘

  • MaClaren let that slip ,,,, he should have had Bryson ,, on not on the bench wingers brake things up ,,, open Doors ,,, he blew his big chance

  • I’d have to agree with you there, not often you can criticise McClaren this season but I do think he got things wrong on Saturday. In a game of very fine margins we didn’t have the extra bit of quality and mobility we needed to open up QPR.
