Derby have signed Dave Martin on a permanent basis following a three-month loan spell at Pride Park last season.

The 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract after joining for an undisclosed fee from recently promoted, to the Championship, Millwall.

“He settled in well during his loan spell and will come back for pre-season with a great deal of confidence because of the way he finished the season.

David is an exciting player, who we hope can develop here. He’s hungry to succeed.

He had to be patient waiting for his chance, but with Stephen Pearson likely to miss the start of the season after undergoing surgery he has the chance to make the position his own from the start.”

Nigel Clough was talking to the official website.

The winger made 11 appearances during his loan spell, most of them as a substitute, and scored one goal, however as Clough has said the former Crystal Palace youngster has the chance to stake his claim for a regular place from the start of the season with Pearson injured.

This is another good signing by Clough though, who is starting to bring together a good Rams squad.
