Hull City 0 V Derby County 4 Carabao Cup match report

The Rams made 7 changes to their line-up in the Carabao Cup second-round game at Hull City this evening. Martyn Waghorn leads the three attacking players Alongside Florian Jozefzoon and Jack Marriott.

The Rams were always in charge of the opening exchanges and dominated much of the half. The new personnel and attacking lineup paid dividends in theĀ  24th minute as Martyn Waghorn collected a ball and delicately chipped the Hull Keeper for his first Rams goal.

Derby went two in front in the 39th minute when Florian Jozefzoon scored his first Rams goal, taking the ball just inside the Hull half and running with the ball to the edge of the penalty area before releasing a superbly hit ball across the keeper and into the corner of the net.

Second period saw the Rams being as dominent as the first but it took yet another debutant in the form of Duan Holmes to make the difference, his run and cross caused confusion and Fleming put the ball in his own net to make it Tigers 0 Rams 3

The final nail in the mauling of Hull was put in by Mason Mount the youngster scoring in the 89th minute. The game may be totally different in the League on Saturday but Derby have put out a marker to their hosts this evening and Frank Lampard must be very pleased with his players and the new system used in tonights game.

Derby are now through to Thursday’s 3rd Round draw, where more Premiership sides enter the competition.
