Winger set to make Carabao Cup Squad

Duane Holmes, American winger could feature in Carabao Cup

Rams new signing Duane Holmes could be in tonight’s Derby County Carabao Cup squad to face Hull City.

Holmes signed for £700,000 on deadline day for the Rams from Scunthorpe United, a team he played 78 times for Scunthorpe, scoring 10 goals. His efforts last season earned him the Scunthorpe United play of the Year award. The Scunthorpe team had a good season last time around reaching the League One Play-offs, finishing 5th in the league. They were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the playoffs by Rotherham United.

Holmes is American, being born in Columbus, Georgia. At 23 years of age the exciting yet diminutive (5ft 6 in) winger has yet to play a first-team game for the Rams after being injured in his last game for Scunthorpe on the opening game of the season. He has spent the last few weeks getting back to fitness alongside Tom Huddlestone, who could also make an appearance in tonight’s Carabao Cup match.
