The second match of Derby’s South West tour ended in a draw after a 0-0 draw with Torquay United.

Nigel Clough was happy enough though.

“Torquay caused us problems, they were always going to. They are a League club now and it is lovely to see them back in League Two again.

It was nice to keep another clean sheet but we did not do enough going forward to get a goal.

We did OK considering the side we put out.

It was very much a second-string but it was very good experience for the young lads in the team.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

The Rams boss handed starts to trialist’s Scott Neilson, who played 75 minutes but isn’t getting a contract, and Saul Deeney, who continues his trial with the Rams. Mark Randall again featured, and a loan agreement is still expected to be reached with Arsenal for the midfielder.

Steve Davies, fresh from two goals against Yeovil Town during the week, saw a header saved onto the post by Scott Bevan as the Plainmoor encounter ended in a stalemate.
