COME ON THE RAMS

Derby come into this match looking to build on the good result on Saturday, at Cardiff. If we can win this, we should be looking to push on in this league, and be looking towards the play offs. If we can do that, the spirit will be a lot greater and we can play with a spring in our steps.

Vital Quotes:

Billy Davies says:
‘Our approach has to be right. We have to forget about league positions and form, they don’t matter.

‘We have got a tough game against a very difficult Barnsley side so it is all down to how we approach it.

Andy Ritchie says:

‘We are trying to keep the players positive and keep them up.

‘We will continue working hard and hopefully get the right result at Derby County.’

These quotes were taken from both clubs’ official websites.

Derby County Team News:

Derby have Michael Johnson out with a hamstring problem, so Darren Moore should take his place, after serving a one match ban. Paul Peschisolido is about two weeks away from recovering from his thigh injury, and Bob Malcolm is still out with an ankle problem.

Player to watch: Steve Howard

Howard was named in the team of the week, so I would watch out for him. He has scored six times in his last nine games, which is a decent record.

Barnsley Team News:

Barnsley midfielder Brian Howard is doubtful, and may be replaced by Colin Healy, who would make his first league appearance for the Tykes. Daniel Nardiello, former Manchester United trainee and Michael McIndoe may start, whilst Dale Tonge is doubtful.

Player to watch: Richards (don’t know his first name!)

Richards has scored 5 goals this season, and he is the only threat that i can see causing us problems. But, if Michael McIndoe and Brian Howard start, then them two might as well.

Match Facts & Stats

At home in recent years against Barnsley, we have been generally quite good. The Rams have won four times on the bounce against Barnsley at home. Talk about good omens! Barnsley have lost 5 out of their last 6 games, and the other result was a draw! Derby however have won 3 times, drawn once and lost twice.

Match Prediction:

Barnsley are not enjoying life in the Championship at the moment, sitting second from bottom on the league. I think this run will continue, and the Rams will win 2-0.
