Young Scot to trial with Derby

The Rams are to give a week-long trail to Clyde midfielder Craig Bryson, and he will head to Moor Farm on Monday.
The 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and has also attracted interest from Scottish Premier League clubs, but Clyde has allowed him to travel to the Rams for the trial.

Bryson`s agent Kevin Drinkell said: ‘Billy Davies was a fan of Craig during his time as Preston manager. And he obviously has, through his Scots connections, kept tabs on the player since moving to Pride Park.’

Bryson signed a professional contract with Clyde at the beginning of season 2003/04, though he had to wait till the following season to make his debut. Bryson made a great start to his senior career, scoring 4 minutes into his debut against Raith Rovers in August 2004. Bryson continued his good form over the season, winning him Clyde’s Young Player of the Year Award.

Bryson had a season to remember in 2005/06, scoring against both half’s of the Old Firm. He scored Clyde’s equalizing goal in a 5-2 extra time defeat against Rangers, and scored the opener in the famous 2-1 win over Celtic.

That inspired much interest, but it is Davies’ Championship club that has made the first move to capture his signature.
‘Derby now want to have a closer look at the player and his potential in the right environment over the coming week and thanks should go to Joe Miller and Clyde for allowing Craig the opportunity to try and further his career,’ added Drinkell.

Bryson has been capped by Scotland at U19 & U21 level.
