There has been more movement on the transfer front with Luke Varney going back out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season and newspaper talk linking us to a permanent deal for David Martin from Millwall and a loan deal for Arsenal youngster Gilles Sunu.

Varney has dropped down the pecking order at Pride Park as has already been on loan at Hillsborough at the backend of last season and before Christmas this season. With the return from injury of Chris Porter, Kris Commons and Steve Davies, with the later being earmarked as a striker by Nigel Clough, and Rob Hulse and DJ Campbell also on the books Varney`s first team chances have been few and far between with only two substitute appearances so far this term for The Rams.

Giles Sunu was linked in an article in the Daily Mirror who state Clough is interested in bringing the young French striker in on a temporary basis from the Emirates Stadium. The youngster was born in Togo and has made his first team debut having appeared in the League Cup and Champions League earlier this season. If true this deal would appear to be in place of James Vaughan returning to Pride Park after his recent run of games for the first team at Goodison Park.

The same paper also linked Derby with a permanent switch for Millwall winger Dave Martin in a £150,000 deal. The winger nearly moved to Cardiff City in the off season but the deal fell through at the last minute and he has been in fine form for The Lions so far this season scoring three goals from his position out wide.
