Goals from Luke Varney and Conor Doyle handed a Derby County XI a 2-0 victory over Solihull Motors in a game that also saw Jake Buxton complete on hour on his comeback from injury. Dean Moxey`s low cross was turned in from six yards by Luke Varney a minute before halftime to break the deadlock on a wet night at Damson Park. Varney then turned provider five minutes after the break when his cross was turned home by Doyle from close range to further boost his chances of joining The Rams on a permanent basis. Doyle came close to adding a third late on but he lifted his effort over the top and it was a fairly straight forward victory at the end.
