Gary Rowett was pleased with the performance as his Derby County team beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 to claim the first win of his time as manager at Pride Park.

A gal from Matej Vydra, his second in two games since Rowett`s arrival, gave The Rams the points as they survived a late scare as Idrissa Sylla`s header hit the post. Not only was the new manager happy with the result but also the way his side performed in front of the TV cameras. Talking to dcfc.co.uk about the result Rowett said:

“To win is important, but for me the way we went about it was just as pleasing. That was actually the thing that pleased me most about the game. It was a little bit tentative at times in the opening 10 minutes and we were a bit safe with our passing, but after that, we grew into the game and showed more belief. We knew we had to move the ball quickly given the way Queens Park Rangers lined up; the space was out wide with so many bodies in the middle of the park. “
