Whilst admitting he has other transfer priorities, Rams boss Billy Davies has confirmed his interest in Celtic’s Scottish international Stephen Pearson.

23 year old Pearson is a versatile midfielder and is believed to be surplus to requirements at Parkhead. Other clubs in the Championship are reportedly in the hunt, most notably Wolves and Crystal Palace.

Speaking to the Derby Evening Telegraph, Davies said: ‘He is a very good young player and an international who can play in several positions,’.

‘He can play as an attacking left-sided player or on the left of a midfield three, four or even five. He provides a major goal threat from the middle of the park.’

Whilst Pearson appears to be an attractive proposition, Davies’ main focus is inevitably towards the forward line, with Paul Peschisolido the only recognised striker currently on the books.
