Rams check out Speed and Kilbane

It`s been reported in today`s media that Paul Jewell will look too sign veteran Gary Speed from Bolton Wanderers and Kevin Kilbane from Wigan Athletic in the January transfer window.

Speed (36) has played 119 games for the Wanderers scoring 14 times. He has also played for Leeds United, Everton and Newcastle United; as well he has 85 caps for the Welsh national team and would be great in the Rams midfield.

Kilbane (30) worked with Jewell at Wigan in 2006 and has also played for Preston, West Brom, Sunderland and Everton. Coincidently he has also won 85 caps but they were with the Republic of Ireland.

The Rams have also been linked with a move for West Ham striker Bobby Zamora with a fee of £5million being reported. The big striker is yet to start in the Premier League this season and Alan Curbishley is looking to off load the former Spurs striker.

Jewell has come out this week to deny a number of transfer speculations, but the pair would be a good addition to the Rams side as they look for Premiership survival.

He said: “There is always going to be speculation as we approach the January window, not just surrounding this club but all clubs.

“We have already been linked with a couple of players. I’m not saying they aren’t good players but I’ve certainly not spoken to anyone about them, and I will not comment on speculation.”
