Derby County has confirmed that director of football Murdo Mackay is to leave the club.

Mr Mackay joined the Rams two years ago and has on many occasions offered to quit, most notably earlier this month when he once again publically critisised other members of the Derby County board.

No one has yet passed comment from the club, other then to thank him for his contribution

Mackay, speeking on Radio Derby, has not ruled out a return to the club in the future
“Who knows what’ll happen in the future – football’s a strange business. I certainly wouldn’t discount it were I to get the opportunity”

Mackay has said in the past that he regrets introducing certain individuals to the club. It would be no suprise if Mackay was seen back at Derby if, and only if, the correct people in many Derby supporters eyes were put in charge of The Rams.

This will add to Derby’s hassles of looking to bring someone in on loan before 5pm on Thursday.
