Derby might have signed Chris Porter almost a year ago but as he’s barely featured for us when he finally does return he’ll be like a new signing.

The 25-year-old, who was Nigel Clough’s first signing when he took over at Pride Park, has been sidelined with a hip injury for 8 months now but is targeting a mid December comeback. Porter had been troubled by a series of niggling injuries before that as well.

However the former Motherwell striker believes that the next three weeks are crucial, but if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks then he is targeting a return over the Christmas period, which will see plenty of matches.

All we can now do is keep our fingers crossed that Porter doesn’t have any negative reactions in his recovery and can stay fit to show why Clough was so keen to bring him to the club, he will be like a new signing when he is fit, which will also be plus for Cloughie as he could do with some striking reinforcements!
