It has been revealed that Derby are to finally honour legendary manager Brian Clough and his assistant Peter Taylor with a stature of the pair to be erected at Pride Park.

Clough senior, of course the father of current boss Nigel, is credited with most of the successes that Derby had under his time with the club but the role that Taylor played cant be underestimated and Nigel is delighted that the statue, which has been some time in coming, will include both.

“A statue has been discussed and suggested for a while and it is lovely that it has come to fruition, but the most important thing from our point of view, the family, was that Peter Taylor was involved.

“There has been a lot of individual tributes but my dad would be the first to say he would want to be sitting alongside Peter. It is important Peter is in there and it is a proud moment for his family too.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Brian Clough and Taylor took us from the old Second Division to be Champions on England and a European Cup Semi Final spot during their time at the club and will now rightfully be honoured by the stature that will be crafted by Andy Edwards who was responsible for the Steve Bloomer statue.
