Paul Jewell was overjoyed to see Derby get back to winning ways, following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park today.

‘I thought it was a comprehensive 3-0.

‘The first 10 minutes we started the game a little bit edgy but after that we got a foot-hold and once we scored the first goal, I thought we could go on and win it.

‘I thought our second half was full of endeavour. We closed the ball down for the second goal and we got our just rewards.

‘Miles was due a goal. He had two chalked off against Nottingham Forest. He has hit the post, keepers have made good saves and he has missed good chances.

‘You would think his first goal would have come from his head but it was a terrific run, good pass by Kris Commons and his scuffed it into the bottom corner. It was nice to see it go in.

‘Third goal, the shot from Jordan, it was nice to see it stay in the stadium!

‘He had only one thing in his mind and it was a terrific goal.’

Jewell was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
