Stephen Pearson has suffered another injury setback that will mean him missing the final match of this season against Cardiff and the start of next season too.

The 27-year-old will have surgery on a knee injury this week that will keep him out of Nigel Clough’s plans for four months.

“He will not be available for pre-season and the first month or six weeks of the next season.

It is a blow for Stephen but something that needs to be done.”

Clough was talking to the official website.

This season has been one of Pearson’s best for Derby, as far as matches played goes, but injuries have plagued the Scottish international during his time with the Rams. Hopefully this surgery will cure the problem for Pearson, who recently signed a new contract, and enable him to enjoy an injury free (as much as possible) season next time round.
