Claude Davis had long ago been told by Nigel Clough that he doesn’t have a future with Derby, however the defender still has two-years left on his contract.

The 30-year-old, who is set to return to Derby after the Gold Cup, looks as though he will have his contract terminated with BBC Radio Derby reporting that negotiations will begin to make this happen when the Jamaican international return from the United States.

Davis has proved an expensive flop for the Rams, doing little to justify the £3m that former boss Billy Davies paid Sheffield United for the central defender two-years ago.

Crystal Palace are believed to be interested in signing Davis, who spent three-months on loan with at Selhurst Park last season, but have so far been put off by the money involved.
