After a decent run-out in Derby’s first pre-season match of the season trialist Patrick Kisnorbo looks as though he’s something that Nigel Clough would like to sign.

“We were very pleased with what we saw from Patrick for around an hour.

It is well documented that centre-half is a position we are looking to improve and he may well be an improvement on what we have got.

He has got Championship experience and although he is not 6ft 3in or 6ft 4in, he competes well and he can play full-back as well, so it covers us in that position.

We will sit down and have a chat with him.”

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

The 28-year-old caught the eye during the 1-0 win over Burton Albion and that could be enough to see a move to Pride Park completed this week by the former Leicester defender, who is available on a free transfer after his release.

Crystal Palace had Kisnorbo on trial last week, and he featured in a pre-season friendly for them, but we seem to have moved to the front of the queue for the Australian international.
