The January transfer window continues to open and close at Pride Park, with Mo Camara continuing his loan spell at Norwich City while former Newcastle United winger Laurent Robert will have a trail at the club this week with a possibility of a move back to the Premiership.

Norwich has extended Camara’s loan stay at Carrow Road until the end of the season. Paul Jewell stated he wanted all loaned Rams players back at the club in January but has decided to keep the defender at the Championship club.

The 32-year-old Guinea born left-back joined the Canaries on loan in November and has played 10 games for the East Anglian club.

Camara joined the Rams on a free transfer from Celtic in August 2006 and has also played for Wolves and Burnley in the UK.
The defender has played just twice for the Rams this season, the Premier League game was one to forget for Camara and the Rams a 6-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.

He also played in the League Cup defeat on penalties against Blackpool, a game were he scored his only goal for the Rams.

Meanwhile Robert has been given a trial at Pride Park and is keen to impress Jewell at the Rams training ground at Moor Farm.

Robert, 32, gets the chance of a return to England after having his contract cancelled by Spanish side Levante, and will train with the Rams ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Frenchman joined Newcastle for £10.5m in 2001 and made 139 Premier League appearances in four years on Tyneside.

After a half-season loan at Portsmouth, he moved to Benfica in January 2006, before joining Levante later that year.

Jewell told the club’s website: ‘We will have a look at him and see what condition he’s in because we are desperately short of numbers

‘In January plenty needs to happen. The players are down after the Bolton result and you expect that. It seems like one blow after another at the moment and it tests our resolve, but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.’
