Who Makes Giggs’ First Welsh Squad?

|

New Wales manager Ryan Giggs has now announced his first selection since taking the job on.

The next break of the 2017/18 campaign in March sees Wales face hosts China in Nanning on Thursday March 22, before then facing either Czech Republic or Uruguay in a second scheduled game in the China Cup on Monday March 26.

Both Joe Ledley and Tom Lawrence have been included.  Not totally sure a trip to China is going to help either of these players in relation to our end of season run in is it?  Great to see them in contention though and yes, I know that sounds like a contradiction.  I’m happy for them but I am also thinking of our recent form and the need to have players rested and well for the final games in this Championship campaign.

Full squad:

Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace), Chris Maxwell (Preston), Michael Crowe (Ipswich), Ashley Williams (Everton), James Chester (Aston Villa), Ben Davies (Tottenham Hotspur), Chris Gunter (Reading), Neil Taylor (Aston Villa), Declan John (Rangers), Connor Roberts (Swansea), Ethan Ampadu (Chelsea), Tom Lockyer (Bristol Rovers), Joe Allen (Stoke), Joe Ledley (Derby), Lee Evans (Sheffield United), Andy King (Swansea), Ryan Hedges (Barnsley), Chris Mepham (Brentford), Marley Watkins (Norwich), Tom Lawrence (Derby), Gareth Bale (Real Madrid), Ben Woodburn (Liverpool), Harry Wilson (Hull), Billy Bodin (Preston), Sam Vokes (Burnley), Tom Bradshaw (Barnsley).
