Wales win with wonder goal by Wilson

Harry Wilson free kick goal against The Republic of Ireland, watched over by Tom Lawrence

A 58th-minute strike by Derby County’s Harry Wilson gave Wales all the points in an exciting game last night in the UEFA Nations League.

The game was poised at 0-0 before a free kick. The 25-yard strike bent up and around the wall leaving Goalkeeper Randolf flat-footed and only able to look as the ball nestled in the top right-hand corner of his net.

The free kick isn’t the first wonder free-kick hit and scored by a Rams player this season. Mason Mount and Tom Lawrence have scored some great free kicks already this season and Derby fans, along with the odd Welsh supporter will be hoping it continues.

The goal and more importantly the win moves Wales to the top of their UEFA Nations Cup league B group 4 table.

Wales now need just a point in their remaining game to gain qualification to league A whilst the Republic of Ireland are facing relegation to league C

Wales also had further representation from the Rams in the form of Tom Lawrence, whilst Richard Keogh was on the losing Irish side, along with former Ram Jeff Hendrick (Burnley).
