The January transfer window has reached the half way stage and again Derby County are in the news regarding moves in and out of Pride Park. With Craig Fagan, Stephen Pearson, Gary Teale and David Jones already in the bag, Billy Davies looks like he is still keen to add to the squad. With this in mind we may see a few players leaving the club in the coming two weeks, well those who want to be playing regular first time football that is. The club have had bids turn down for Bradford City`s Jermaine Johnson this week and have made enquiries about West Ham defender Tyrone Mears.

A new name in this morning press is 19-year-old Crewe defender Billy Jones, a product of their excellent youth set-up. Jones made his professional debut for The Alex in October 2003, ironically, in Crewe’s 3-0 win over the Rams. Since then Jones has become a regular in Crewe’s back-line and for the 2005-06 season. But after rejecting a new contract at Gresty Road, Jones was transfer listed and is currently linked to a number of clubs including the Rams

The name Calum Davenport has been widely reported as Rams target, and the Spurs 24-year-old is also looking at getting first team football, something he has struggled to get at White Hart Lane. He was transferred to Spurs for £1,300,000 from Coventry City, but after only 13 games for the North London club, he was loan out to West Ham, Southampton and Norwich City. It`s been reported that Davenport is being used as bait as Spurs bid to land Rams young midfielder Giles Barnes by offering £2m and the defender in exchange. Rams boss Davies has said Barnes is going nowhere, so we will have to wait and see on that one.

A player being linked at a move away from Pride Park is Seth Johnson, if not now, the end of the season. He has been linked to a move to Hull City, who are managed by former Rams coach Phil Brown. Johnson began a second spell with the Rams in August 2005 when he was signed by Brown from Leeds United.
But the likeable midfielder has only one thing on his mind at the moment. Johnson said: ‘I want to help the lads get promotion. Even if I don’t get offered a new contract, I still want us to go up.
‘The manager’s not spoken to me about it so I don’t know. It’s out of my hands but I want to stay.
‘There’s still quite a way to go between now and the end of the season and a lot of things could happen.
‘There’s not much you can do. If the manager doesn’t want me to stay, I’m not going to sit around and mope about it.
‘I’ll carry on with my game and keep working as hard as I can until the end of the season.’
Hull is also reported to be interested in Adam Bolder. The 26-year-old began his career at Hull in 1999. A move back to his old club might interest him, with his playing time at the Rams limited over recent weeks.
