Derby County are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by George Thorne in the one nil victory over Burton Albion at the weekend at the iPro Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Thorne was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Welcome back, George Thorne! The Derby midfielder returned to the starting line-up for the first time since breaking his leg in May 2016, and he delivered a performance like he`d never been away. An all-action display in the heart of midfield earned him plaudits aplenty, as the Rams edged out rivals Burton Albion courtesy of Johnny Russell`s late strike.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Thorne for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Mark Oxley (Southend United), Ben Davies (Preston North End), Sean Morrison (Cardiff City), Mark Little (Bolton Wanderers), Sergi Canos (Brentford), George Thorne (Derby County), Callum Connolly (Ipswich Town), Mo Barrow (Reading), Lee Gregory (Millwall), Gary Hooper (Sheffield Wednesday), Ellis Harrison (Bristol Rovers).

Manager – Lee Johnson (Bristol City).
