John Brayford remains a player that is being linked with a move to Derby but Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson wants his future resolved sooner rather than later.

“I don’t know what is happening with John. There is definitely interest there from Cloughie because he has spoken about him on quite a number of occasions this summer.”

Thordarson has said that no offers have been made yet and he doesn’t want to sell the 21-year-old, but knows everyone has a price but the defender won’t go anywhere unless we (or someone else) matches the asking price.

“There is no offer for him and I don’t want to sell him because John is going to be a key player for me. Of course, Crewe has always survived by selling their better players and that is the way it has to be.

Every player in the world has a price but we won’t be selling him for anything less than what we think he is worth.

The club paid significant money to take him here in the first place and he has a long contract with us, so we’ll have to see if Derby or anyone else comes up with the money we require.”

Thordarson was talking to the official Crewe website.

Whatever’s going to happen he wants it to happen quickly, and I’d imagine that is what Nigel Clough wants too.
