Jamie Ward and Conor Sammon are starting to form a good partnership up front for Derby County according to manager Nigel Clough with the pair contributing five goals from the six games they have started together so far.

Ward spent the majority of last season playing wide left in midfield but has been moved to a central role up front so far this campaign and has scored four goals in his last four games. Sammon joined The Rams from Wigan Athletic during the summer transfer window and despite having barely featured for the Premiership outfit during his eighteen months there he has shown in glimpses the power and pace that can unsettle defences at this level scoring his only goal in the home win against Watford. Clough believes the two could form a deadly partnership and told dcfc.co.uk:

“We`re seeing a partnership beginning to develop between them, but it`s still in its early days. We have got to persevere with the partnership and see how it develops, so Jamie and Conor need a few games together on the spin. They`re beginning to get to know each other and with each game we`ve seen the link-up play between them improve.”
