Dave Mitchell, the boss of Perth Glory who are chasing Mile Sterjovski, has claimed that he isn’t going to be offered a new deal with Derby.

“Since Nigel Clough has come in to Derby, he’s re-assessed the squad and he’s (Sterjovski) actually been told he’s going to be released now.

“So he’s one that strikes us as available. Now his actual personal position has changed because Derby are letting him go, he’s just got to think of where can he go and what can he do.

Other clubs are also thought to be interested in Sterjovski, including Adelaide.

“He’s got a few options and I think there’s a couple of clubs (after him). Adelaide have shown interest in him as we have, so that’s got to be borne out again.

Mitchell, who came over to England to see the midfielder first hand, has watched the 29-year-old recently.

Sterjovski more than likely wouldn’t be offered a new contract as it’s unlikely that he’s part of Nigel Clough’s long-term plans, and with players needing to go to reduce the wage bill and trim the squad those that are out of contract are the ones most at risk.
