Stead Raring to Go

Stead has been playing a lot recently, especially considering that he is very short of match fitness, after only starting one game for Sunderland. He has also yet to score for the Rams, but that will come I am sure.

He told Derby’s official site:

‘My fitness is getting better all the time and the more 90 minutes I get under my belt the better.’

Stead would have scored against QPR if it wasn’t for welsh international goalie Paul Jones making some quite brilliant saves.

‘I only had half an hour there but that was quite bright,’ Stead added.

‘Hitting the post and seeing the keeper make saves, happens in football, but it’s happened to me quite a bit.’

‘But the first goal will come, I’m sure it will.’

I personally think Jon is a good player, and he has been unlucky in recent seasons. Take last year for Sunderland for example, the whole team was on a downward spiral in confidence, and this did Stead no good. Hopefully, he will start banging the goals soon enough. He may even score the winner at Cardiff, you never know!
