With injuries and suspensions mounting Derby are again being linked with Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross. Paul Jewell isn’t ruling out making a loan move for him, but isn’t sure if he is available.

‘Ryan Shawcross is a good player, though whether Tony Pulis is prepared to let him go out on loan, I don’t know.

‘I’ve read a couple of things that he’s not letting anybody go out on loan.’

Jewell was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Depending on what happens during the international break Jewell would probably stick with what he has and use Claude Davis and Lewin Nyatanga for the match with Plymouth (18th October) as Dean Leacock will return from suspension after that. It all depends on how many options he wants though really.
