Robbie Savage has turned down the chance to join Brighton in a loan deal.

Brighton, who as fate would have it will be our Carling Cup opponents in the 3rd round after they beat Manchester City, are being reported by the Evening Telegraph as having approached the 33-year-old about a loan at the Withdean.

Paul Jewell confirmed earlier in the week that Savage would be allowed to leave on loan but League One doesn’t appear to be a level that the former Welsh international is happy to drop down to, even though he knows the Brighton manager Mickey Adams after working with him at Leicester.

Gary Teale is also a player that Brighton want, but he too isn’t thought to be interested in the move.
