Robbie Savage’s future with Derby is uncertain but Adam Pearson is adamant that he will not have his contract paid up so he can leave Pride Park, as has been suggested.

‘I’ve read somewhere that we want to pay him (Robbie Savage) up but that is nonsense. That will not happen.

‘As far as I’m concerned, Robbie still has a future at this club.

‘He has two years left on his contract and is part of the squad.

‘What we are looking for now is a response from him in terms of getting back into the side.’

Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Rams boss Paul Jewell has repeatedly claimed that Savage is still very much part of his first-team plans despite not featuring much in pre-season, and again stressed this on Wednesday but said he must fight to regain his place.

However Savage’s omission from the last two pre-season matches and the behind closed doors friendly with Hull on Wednesday, despite the fact that several players on the outskirts of the squad including Mo Camara, who hasn’t featured at all in pre-season, played this match still leave very big question marks handing over his Rams future.
