Robbie Savage has turned down the chance to join Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps and has decided to remain at Pride Park for the remainder of the season to concentrate on his football/media career in England. Derby`s captain announced his decision via Twitter yesterday after the disappointing defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday and his mini-tantrum when being replaced during the second half. Talking about his decision Robbie said:

‘I’m going to stay here. Canada was a great option but it was too big a move for my family.’

So for the first time ever I will be out of contract in the summer, I’m going to have to be my own agent! It was a massive call, but I’ve worked hard in the media to get where I am and took good advice off people. It’s the right choice.’

In other news David Martin joined Notts County on a month`s loan last Friday but did not make the bench as The Magpies lost at home to Carlisle United. The deal came the morning after Ben Davies moved in the opposite direction joining The Rams on a two-and-a-half year deal. Martin joined Derby during the summer after spending the second half of last season on loan from Millwall but his opportunities have been reduced this season with the new formation being played by Nigel Clough`s side meaning wingers do not currently fit into the side.
