Johnny Russell is relishing the chance to join up with his new Derby County teammates and thinks that the club are set for a good season after moving to Pride Park from Dundee United.

There were rumoured to be a number of clubs interested in the striker but after The Rams pushed the boat out to make him feel welcome Russell felt there was no decision to be made. Having put pen to paper on a four year deal the former Scotland Under-21 international is excited about joining up with his new teammates and helping the team push on from last season. Having been impressed with the style of the team and the promise shown in the previous campaign Russell told the Burton Mail:

“There were clubs who said they were interested, but it was Derby who showed me how much they wanted me to come here. I just want to be part of something special here. I spoke to them about their plans and how they wanted to take the club forward and that really sold me on it. I know they`re an exciting team who like to play football the right way, and hopefully next season we can turn that into a great run and get ourselves up. The feeling I got is that the club`s done well for a few years but now is the time that we really want to push for it, and hopefully this season we can do it.”
