There are conflicting reports in relation to the status of Derby County`s pursuit of Dundee United top scorer Johnny Russell.

Reports in Scotland suggest that United have accepted a bid of around £750,000 for the striker although Derby County insist no agreement has been made. Russell scored 20 goals for the Tannadice club last season and he has told them that he will not be signing a new contract so they are looking to offload him during the transfer window. A number of clubs are reportedly interested in the striker with Celtic also keen on him as a replacement for Gary Hooper who looks likely to secure a move back to England.

Despite a denial from Pride Park that a deal has been agreed United boss Jackie McNamara is quoted in the Daily Record as saying:

‘I think the club are getting closer to agreeing a fee with Derby for Johnny. If they agree, it will then be down to the player. There’s been a lot of speculation and I think it would be good if it were to be brought to a speedy conclusion.’
