Derby County have completed the signing of Dundee Unite striker Johnny Russell on a four year contract for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £700,000.

Russell was reportedly the top target with Nigel Clough looking to bring in a forward to add to his options and the deal has now been completed after he visited Pride Park and Moor Farm to complete his medical yesterday. With rumours circulating that Celtic may make a last ditch bid to hijack the deal The Rams were keen to get the deal settled and the player returned from holiday after having time to think through the move. Having signed his new contract Russell told dcfc.co.uk:

“The Stadium looks magnificent and I am sure the atmosphere will be brilliant too. I knew how big a club Derby was, but once I arrived it really stood out more than I thought. I wasn`t sure what to expect but it`s fair to say I was very impressed. If we can do well on the pitch it`ll be a very special place for us to play.”
