Rowett set to strike at the hearts of Rams fans again with a double move for Rams players

Barely has the dust settled on the departure of Gary Rowett to Stoke City than the former Rams boss looks set to make an offer for Derby County’s defensive Captain Curtis Davis. At 33 the former Premier League defender is no spring chicken but he featured in every game for Derby County last season and proved he is still one of the best defenders in the Championship.

Derby are unlikely to listen to any offers at the moment until a new manager can be appointed and with over 20 candidates to be interviewed, that could be some time. The new Rams boss will not want one of his star players and assets to be sold to a rival before he has had time to get his feet under the Derby County managerial table.

Davies is contracted to Derby until the end of next season, although Rowett also signed a three and a half year deal with the Rams just seven months ago and that was paid off in the £1.8m compensation pay-off Derby received from Stoke.

Davies has also been nominated for the PFA Championship Player of the Year award.

Stoke are also said to be eyeing up a bid for the Rams goalkeeper, Scott Carson. The 32-Year-old has had one of his best seasons ever with the Rams and his heroics in the goal for Derby have gained them valuable points in their chase for promotion. Again it is thought no action on any move will take place before the Rams have their new manager in place.
