Derby County goalkeeper Ross Atkins is being targeted by Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett for another loan spell after spending all of last season on loan at the Pirelli Stadium.

With The Rams currently having four goalkeepers with the return to fitness of Saul Deeney it is possible that Atkins may be allowed to go out on loan again following his contract extension with Burton apparently keen on the youngster if so. Talking to official Burton Albion website about the possibility of a deal Rowett said:

‘I am exploring all the possibilities before making a decision – and Ross is one of them. Ross had his ups and downs but had a fantastic finish to the season and played a big part in helping us to get the results we needed to stay in the Football League. He’s going to get better and better as he gains experience so he’s definitely in my thoughts, though I’m not entirely sure what Derby have planned for him’
