Gareth Roberts could be in line to make a return to the starting XI against Peterborough United on Saturday after making his comeback as an overage player in The Rams Under-21 team on Wednesday afternoon.

Roberts returned to the bench against Ipswich Town on Tuesday and was an unused substitute as Derby won 2-1 with a late goal from Nathan Tyson. The leftback had missed the previous two games either side of the international break with a hamstring injury but he played sixty minutes of the 1-0 victory against Sheffield United Under-21’s at their training ground. Nigel Clough watched the performance and told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

‘Gareth came through and he’s in with a chance of starting Saturday. He’s had only one training session before the Ipswich game and so we put him on the bench. We were also aware of the height of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on the right for Ipswich.’
