Ref watch Millwall v Derby County

|

Referee Stephen Martin

The Rams hope to get back into winning action as they visit Millwall. The EFL has appointed Stephen Martin as their referee for the afternoon.

Mr Martin is from Staffordshire and has Darren Blunden and Graham Kane to assist him, with the 4th referee being Andy Davies.

Martin has refereed two games this season, the latest the 1-0 win by Nottingham Forest over Reading. Forest are no stranger to the refereeing of Stephen Martin and one of the referees more noted games came in the 2016-17 season when Forest took on Newcastle United in the Championship. The notoriety came as referee Martin controversially sent of Newcastle’s play-maker Jonjo Shelvey and then the Magpies Paul Dummett.

The referee then went on to award Forest two penalties in a 2-1 win. This setback didn’t stop Newcastle from an eventual automatic promotion that season back to the Premiership.

Last season saw referee Martin take charge of 41 games issuing 93 yellow cards and two reds.

It will be a year to the day that Stephen Martin last took charge of a Derby County game. This being the Bolton V Derby County  Championship clash on Saturday 19th August 2017. Tthe Rams winning the game 2-1
