The Rams victory against Wrexham in the third round of the FA Cup isn`t the only interest the club have in cup competitions. The Rams academy under 18`s side have reached the fourth round of the FA Youth cup, and face Barnsley at Pride Park on Wednesday evening at 7pm.

It`s a great opportunity to see the young Rams potential stars of the future, and admission to the game is only £1. A victory for Kevin Thelwell`s side will give them a fifth round home tie against Birmingham City, whose academy director of Football is former Rams boss Terry Westley. The Rams reached the fourth round of the cup with a hard fought 4-2 victory against Doncaster Rovers after extra-time at Belle Vue on December 5th.

The Rams took an early lead through Matt Richards, but were pegged back by Waide Fairhurst for Barnsley. The Rams were back in front when Karl Ashton scored and it looked like the Rams were home. But in the 87th minute Jordan Lodge scored for the Tykes to take the game in to extra time. A stunning strike from David Wood regained the lead and a second from Richards saw the Rams through.
Barnsley made it through to the fourth round with a 2-0 home victory against Leyton Orient

The Rams Under 18`s currently sit in 6th spot in the table on 23 points and are coming off a solid 1-1 home draw against Newcastle United on Saturday. While Barnsley were beaten 2-5 away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday
