There is speculation in the press, namely the Bristol post that Derby County are looking at replacing Matej Vydra with attacking midfielder Bobby Reid, Currently at Bristol City.

The 25-year-old Bristol-born player will be out of contract next week (30th June 2018) but does have a further years extension if he wants it. He has yet to put pen to paper for the extension and that has prompted several clubs to take a keen interest in Reid.

Already West Bromwich Albion are said to have tabled a £7m bid. The Rams, however, would have to finalise the sale of Vydra to be in a position to bid themselves. There is no news as yet of any movement on the proposed sale of Vydra to Leeds United or any other club.

Reid was a vital part of Bristol City’s successful season last and they would not want to give such a promising player away cheaply. There were rumours of a fee of around the £10m mark and as high as £12m, which may rule the Rams out of any deal, WBA having parachute payments from their time in the Premiership last season, could, however, afford that sort of fee.

So the Rams must wait on any sales to move for 19 league goal Reid, a player that was in last season’s PFA Championship Team of the Year.
