Four of Derby County`s squad picked up further international caps with Jeff Hendrick, Conor Sammon, Theo Robinson and Valentin Gjokaj all making appearances for their respective countries.

Hendrick and Sammon both started for the Republic of Ireland in their 2-0 friendly defeat to Spain in New York where goals from Roberto Soldado and Juan Mata handed the World and European champions the win. Hendrick was replaced at halftime by Stephen Quinn whilst Sammon played the full ninety minutes and came close to giving his side the lead when he took the ball away from a hesitant Gerard Pique but fired wide of the far post when through on goal.

Theo Robinson made another appearance from the bench as Jamaica lost 2-0 to Ecuador in Tegucigalpa to remain bottom of their World Cup qualifying group. Valentin Gjokaj again played the full ninety minutes for Albania`s Under-21 side as they went down 4-1 against Bosnia and Herzegovina to suffer a second consecutive defeat in their European Championship qualifying campaign.
