The Rams were delivered a huge in the promotion hopes blow after goalkeeper Stephen Bywater was handed a one-match suspension and a fine of £2,000 at an FA hearing.

Bywater had admitted an improper conduct charge following his dismissal in the game at Ipswich Town and will now miss the Rams trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The keeper has also been warned by the FA as to his future conduct and the Rams will not be appealing against the decision.

Bywater was charged by the FA after an altercation with Ipswich’s defender Alex Bruce after both were sent off earlier in April.

They had the red cards overturned but were then hit with the charge, which Bywater admitted. The Ipswich defender Bruce escaped a ban – but was fined £1,500.
