Rams lose first team coaches to Stoke City

|

Kevin Philips leaves to join Gary Rowett at Stoke City after nearly three years with the Rams

It is getting a bit monotonous but Derby County has again lost out to Stoke City. The Potter this time taking first team coaches Kevin Philips, former Rams player Rory Delap and Mark Sale. All now team up with former Rams boss Gary Rowett at the Bet365 stadium.

Philips, the 44-year-old former England striker has been with the Rams since 2015, helping coach Golden Boot winner Matej Vydra among his other achievements whilst with Derby.

Youth team coach and former Rams defender Rory Delap has moved to Stoke, although his position may have been surplus to requirements as former Chelsea U18 squad manager Jody Morris is taking over as an assistant coach in the re-shuffled Rams backroom team.

Strangely former assistant to Rowett Mark Sale remains at Derby for the moment and Kevin Poole is also not moving with Rowett to Stoke, as they already have a first-team goalkeeping coach at the club.

It is not known as yet who else Lampard will appoint into his backroom staff, but new appointments seem imminent as the players return to pre-season training on Thursday.
