Rams look to strengthen defence

|

Derby County is looking to bring in a new right-back if the rumours are to be believed. Temitayo (Ola)Aina looks to be Frank Lampard’s latest interest.

Aina is a Chelsea player, so Lampard already knows all about his strengths, as does Rams Chief coach Jody Morris, who worked with him whilst with the Chelsea U23 squad.

Derby will look to loan the 21-Year-old Chelsea defender to fill the right-back role, although Aina is comfortable all across the back line, able to fill in at centre-back and left-back.

Hull City successfully loaned Aina last season and he played 44 times for the Tigers and 2 times in the FA Cup

At 21 Aina has a multitude of experience in the Championship and has also played in the Premier League, coming on as a late substitute in October 2016. More experience has come his way via International games firstly for England at U16, U17, U18,U19 AND U20 levels, however, he has Nigerian parentage and chose to play for the Nigerian National side and has so far appeared 4 times for them, two World Cup qualifying games and two friendlies. Aina had hoped to go to the 2018 World Cup with Nigeria but just missed out on the final 23 for the Tournament.

No official word from Derby County about the possibility of a loan has yet been received but with the defence looking vulnerable during the opening match of the season against Reading on Friday evening, there is a strong chanceAina could be on his way to Pride Park .
